How long to takes to draw

Talent can also be learned!

Can you join a drawing workshop when you don't feel talented?

My answer is yes! We don't need talent or performance to start learning to draw, for the simple reason that it can be learned. It is the same in all fields. There are basic techniques that will allow you to learn the drawing step by step. So don't worry, you only need a little time, in a few months, you will have acquired the main academic techniques to be able to do everything you want to draw.

Here is the common question that beginners ask me: "How long does it take me to learn to draw correctly? ”

My answer is: It all depends on the student's tempo. Moreover, the one who exercises daily advances faster than the one who relies only on classes and draws only once a week.

Likewise a professional artist; if he stops drawing for a while, his hand will lose flexibility and he will need to make some sketches to be able to do a proper drawing. However, there is no magic formula for learning to draw quickly, you have to practice all the time and without respite.

In your free time, I advise you to draw any object you have at home, a cup, a vase or any element and start by drawing a single object.

You are probably asking yourself the following question: why only one object?

Well, taking measurements of an object would be easier than taking measurements of two objects at the same time, because not only must you measure the object itself, but also the distance between the two objects. Therefore, it is better to start by drawing a single object.

In drawing or painting, the most important thing is to highlight the shape of the object and especially of its substance, since we all know that drawing a glass vase is quite different from drawing a ceramic or porcelain vase. For the glass substance, we are looking for transparency.

Every time you study an object in the workshop, you must continue to practice at home, to do so, you must take the same kind of object, do not venture to draw something that you have not yet studied in class.

There are three steps to follow if you want to learn how to draw quickly.

Step 1:

- The observation

Drawing regularly will help you develop your observational skills. As I always tell my students: "observe more than you draw! "and as you leave the workshop you will notice things you are not used to seeing, so take your time to observe your object intensely before drawing it.

Step 2 :

- The practice

As in all fields and in any training, to learn quickly, it is enough to review your courses and practice continuously. So, you have to draw all the time while being at home; when the mother is cooking for example, try to make a sketch of each of her movements. This practice will allow you to soften your hand, because the sketch is completed in three minutes, its purpose is to capture the movement of the moment.

Step 3:

-The Sketches

Before you start making a complex drawing, make sketches. First of all, you will relax your wrist, hand and arm. I would even say the whole body, since we do not sketch sitting, but standing, moving from one place to another to capture movement.

It is always necessary to have a 21 x 27 cm block of sheets for the realization of your sketches. On the following links you will find all the necessary material to start drawing.

Step 4 :

- Adequate equipment.

To make a good drawing, you need good pencils. In general, we use dry pencils (H) for construction and greasy pencils (B) for values, not to mention bread lead gum. It is not used to erase, but to give some spots of light at the end of the drawing. Generally, eraser is banned in drawing classes.

Of course, beginners tend to erase all the time, but don't worry, this habit will disappear over time.

Why illustrators prefer using Gouache for their illustrations.

Why illustrators prefer using Gouache for their illustrations. Artists like to use gouache for their paintings for many reasons.  Opaque:  Gouache is known for its high opacity, which allows artists to cover the underlying surfaces more easily. This is especially useful when editing or editing a drawing, as errors can be mapped without having to insert details into a drawing.  Matt concluded:  Gouache dries to a matte finish, which may be desirable in some paintings. The gloss or lack thereof creates a subdued and even appearance, maximizing the details of the artwork. Recycling: One of the unique properties of gouache is that it can be reactivated with water even after it has dried. This quality allows artists to manipulate or blend colors, giving them flexibility not as easily achieved with other materials, such as acrylic Difficult Behavior:  Gouache paintings are generally heavily pigmented, producing bright, bold colors. This is useful for displaying i...
