An exciting job for an exciting life. How to change your life

" You just have to find that thing that's special about you that distinguishes you from all the others, and through true talent, hard work, and passion, anything can happen ".

I taught for ten years in public schools, and private schools in high schools as an art teacher. Every morning, I woke up with the idea of leaving everything behind and finding another profession that would make me want to go to work with a smile.

I worked twenty-two hours a week with forty students per class, among them two or three pearls who loved my topic. The rest of the class came without equipment, just to pass the time.

The constraints were not limited to that; I also add that at the end of the trimester, I was forced to undergo the filling of all the school reports and to attend all the school councils.

One day without even thinking, I put an end to this masquerade by abandoning my position with no regrets... I took a sabbatical year to reflect and acknowledge this failure

However, the assessment has been made and the conclusion reached is reflected in a simple sentence. "You are a passionate person and you have to work with passionate people".

It is this magic formula that gave birth to the Artemisia workshop.

In 2012 I created my own art business, opening my own art class and exhibition workshop. You are probably wondering about the choice of the name of the workshop, namely Artemisia?  Well, I'll explain it to you. During my year of hermitage and reflection, I came across the novel by the Italian artist Artemisia Gentileschi written by (Marine Branly).

The latter was the first female painter to gain her freedom with the strength of her brush. I wanted to give homage to this great artist who was fighting with fury in a society of men to impose her talent. A fascinating story that I strongly recommend you read. You can find the book in English  Here

Recently rediscovered by art historians, and one of the few female post-Renaissance painters to achieve fame during her own era, Artemisia Gentileschi led a remarkably "modern" life. Susan Vreeland tells Artemisia's captivating story, beginning with her public humiliation in a rape trial at the age of eighteen, and continuing through her father's betrayal, her marriage of convenience, motherhood, and growing fame as an artist. Set against the glorious backdrops of Rome, Florence, Genoa, and Naples, inhabited by historical characters such as Galileo and Cosimo de' Medici II, and filled with rich details about life as a seventeenth-century painter, Vreeland creates an inspiring story about one woman's lifelong struggle to reconcile career and family, passion and genius.

This year, I decided that the workshop would take my name, in order to make myself known and to give more visibility to my works.

In conclusion, for your growth and especially for more productivity, it is important to work in a field that you are passionate about! You will evolve while having fun, and work and good humour will go hand in hand.

Talent can also be learned! Can you join a drawing workshop when you don't feel talented? My answer is yes! We don't need talent or performance to start learning to draw, for the simple reason that it can be learned. It is the same in all fields. There are basic techniques that will allow you to learn the drawing step by step. So don't worry, you only need a little time, in a few months, you will have acquired the main academic techniques to be able to do everything you want to draw. Here is the common question that beginners ask me: "How long does it take me to learn to draw correctly? ” My answer is: It all depends on the student's tempo. Moreover, the one who exercises daily advances faster than the one who relies only on classes and draws only once a week. Likewise a professional artist; if he stops drawing for a while, his hand will lose flexibility and he will need to make some sketches to be able to do a proper drawing. However, t...
